Sports Team Air Charter

Boca Jet Charter arranges team travel from Boca Raton and across South Florida, for professional clubs, college programs, and youth and travel teams heading to tournaments. A team trip is a different job from a private charter, and the difference is mostly weight and count.

Passenger count decides the aircraft

A traveling party is rarely just the roster. Coaching staff, medical and training staff, equipment managers and sometimes broadcast people all count, and the number tends to settle later than anyone would like.

When your total passenger count outgrows a heavy jet and the group consists of more than nineteen passengers, the aircraft required would fall into regional airliner, or airliner-size. These trips would no longer fall under the FAR Part 135 standards but possibly operate under FAR Part 121 or foreign equivalent standards. Part 121 and equivalent generally carry stricter crew and operating requirements than FAR Part 91 and FAR Part 135. Give us your best estimate early and tell us when it firms up, because that number decides which aircraft we are even looking at.

Equipment

Equipment often exceeds aircraft limits more often than the passenger count does. Bags, medical kit, video gear and anything long or rigid all have to fit a specific baggage compartment with a specific weight limit, and hard cases pack worse than soft ones. Tell us the total weight and the dimensions of the largest single item when you book so we can size the aircraft to the load rather than discovering it on the ramp.

Schedules that move

Games run long, and a postponement moves everything behind it. Build the return with some room in it, and tell your advisor what the realistic latest departure looks like. Boca Raton Airport asks operators to observe a voluntary curfew between 10:00 PM and 7:00 AM, so if the return lands in that window, say so early and we will talk through the options.

For airports, Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International and Miami-Opa Locka Executive both take the larger aircraft team travel usually calls for.

Vetting Behind Every Trip

Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:

  • FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
  • Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
  • Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
  • Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.

Boca Raton-Specific Patterns We Plan Around

Hurricane season runs June through November and peaks in September, and summer afternoons bring thunderstorms that build quickly and close airspace while they pass. Your advisor watches the forecast ahead of your date and will call you before you call us.
