Smoking Accommodations

Boca Jet Charter arranges private flights that permit smoking on board, departing Boca Raton and airports across South Florida. For some clients it is the whole reason they charter rather than fly commercially.

It depends on the aircraft and the operator

Smoking is not a category of aircraft, it is a decision made by whoever owns and operates the one you are on. Some allow it, some allow cigars but not cigarettes, and many do not allow it at all. It cannot be arranged after the fact, so tell us at the quote stage rather than at the airport.

Once we know, we will only present aircraft where it has been confirmed with the operator. On a trip with several legs, we confirm it for each one, because a different aircraft or a different operator may be covering part of the routing.

What to tell your advisor

Say what you intend to smoke and roughly when. Cigars are treated differently from cigarettes by most operators, and pipes differently again. If other passengers on the trip would rather you did not, that is worth resolving before we start looking, not in the air.

Additional cleaning charges may apply, and where they do your advisor will tell you before you book rather than afterwards.

International trips

Rules on board are the operator’s. Rules on the ground are the destination’s, and they vary. If you are carrying cigars back into the United States, that is a customs matter and worth asking about before you travel.

Customs at Boca Raton runs Thursday through Monday, 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM, and clearing outside those hours has to be requested while the facility is open. Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International clears around the clock.

Vetting Behind Every Trip

Every operator, aircraft, and crew goes through our internal due diligence before we present any options. Our internal standards meet or exceed what the FAA requires:

  • FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
  • Operator subscription to Wyvern and ARGUS reviewed where the operator participates.
  • Pilot experience and operator incident history reviewed before we recommend an aircraft.
  • Fewer than 60 brokers worldwide hold Premium Wyvern Broker Member status, and Air Charter Advisors is one of them.

Boca Raton-Specific Patterns We Plan Around

Hurricane season runs June through November and peaks in September, and summer afternoons bring thunderstorms that build quickly and close airspace while they pass. Your advisor watches the forecast ahead of your date and will call you before you call us. Boca Raton Airport also asks operators to observe a voluntary curfew between 10:00 PM and 7:00 AM, which does not block a departure but is worth raising early if your trip lands in that window.
